  1. I read your piece on Woolworth’s pet turtles. It seems to me they painted stupid little sayings on their backs along with designs. Remember any?

    • I know that turtles at carnivals had words and pictures painted on their backs — poor things — but I don’t recall Woolworth turtles having this. However, millions of small green turtles were shipped to five-and-ten stores, so some could have been decorated. Thanks for sharing this.

  2. Many years ago I bought a Felix Cat Scratching Post. My cats automatically took to it. I still have it and 2 others. They are the best. It had to be 25-30 yrs ago and are just now in need of new posts for the bases. I still have the phone number 800-24Felix. 3723 Fremont Ave. N. Seattle WA 98103. Can you tell me if they are still being made? 8 cats over the years have used these. Please tell me they are available and still made so well..
